Get your prescription: the words to use
Most prescription refusals fold the moment someone cites the rule by section, because the office knows the rule better than you do and knows a citation means you do too. Pick what you need and your situation below; you get the words to say out loud and an email you can copy, already citing the right section of the Eyeglass Rule (16 CFR Part 456) or the Contact Lens Rule (16 CFR Part 315).

Before you leave the chair
The prescriber must hand you a copy of your glasses prescription immediately after the refraction, before offering to sell you glasses, whether or not you ask (16 CFR 456.2(a)(1)). You should not have to say anything, but if the handover is not happening, say this before you check out. If the office sells eyewear, they will also ask you to sign a confirmation that you received it; that signature requirement is part of the rule (16 CFR 456.4).

Before I check out, I need my copy of the prescription. The FTC Eyeglass Rule requires you to give it to me automatically right after the refraction, at no charge. Could you also add my pupillary distance if you measured it? Thanks.
